U.S. Import Tariff Information

Salt & Paper is a Canadian based company, and I ship my products internationally, including to the United States. Due to recent changes in U.S. import regulations, packages shipped from Canada will be subject to import tariffs, duties, or taxes assessed by the U.S. government.

President Trump has ensured that you will pay more on imported products from Canada due to:
- Removing the "de minimus exemption", which means products under $800 will be charged tariffs as of 29AUG25 (and this may apply to orders placed before the 29th)
- Applying a 35% tariff on all Canadian products

What This Means for You

  • I will collect your tariff in advance (applied at check out) and will apply it to your shipping label so it is not charged upon delivery. This is called DDP (Delivered Duty Paid)

  • Please review my Shipping Policy and Returns & Refund Policy

Tips for U.S. Customers

  1. Be aware that your package may incur a handling fee at delivery.

  2. Keep a copy of your shipping confirmation in case the carrier requests it.

  3. If you have questions about U.S. import tariffs, check the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website  for details.

Note: Laws and import regulations can change. Individual processing facilities may have their own rules, and the USMCA is scheduled for renegotiation in 2026. Salt & Paper is not responsible for any fees imposed by U.S. authorities.
